Mirage Magazine : FuturePast - A Missed Future, GoSee presents the magazine's second issue

This time, Mirage 02 was published parallel to the Autumn / Winter Fashion Weeks in Paris. Henrik Purienne and Frank Rocholl, the two creative directors look at the 400 page strong magazine book as some sort of “curated object”, which translates to a very subjective and personal selection when it comes to the content.

Thus, they turn their backs to the usual trend and news schemes and work, as is customary in the world of art, like authors, in close collaboration with only a few chosen contributors.

Mirage serves as a platform for “forgotten utopias, unsung heroes and cinematic stagings”, according to the publisher.

The magazine is a product of “MirageCurated/ Purienne/Rocholl”, who infused their gathered retro know-how and the diverse collaborative contacts from their regular agency work in the fields of campaigns, lookbooks and package design (fragrance). The duo's client lists includes: Jil Sander, Hugo Boss, Bershka, Smart, Lancome, Samsung and Levis.

With the first issue of Mirage Magazine, the “emotional response” was considerate, say thhe the creators: “Many spoke of a 'directional publication'. The myriad of feedback emails was primarily concerned with the feeling of a perceptible 'Mirage World', a counterpoise to the most of the established publishing scene.”

The new issue is based on the theme of “FuturePast/A missed Future”. It is about dream cars, interiors and products of the sixties and seventies, the roots of French futurism as well as features about “Emmanuelle” director Just Jaeckin and legendary teen spirit documentary photographer Josepha Szabo.

The inspiration for the improved figurative language of form was the architectural vocabulary of Louis Khan.

The 24 editorials, which reflect topics such as ‘Bohemian Futurism‘ and ‘Adolescent Nervousness‘ were photographed by Laurence Ellis, Henrik Purienne, Chris Heads, Jonathan Leder aund Chatwick Tyler and Matteo, amongst others.

Besides the usual CondeNast stockists, the second issue will be distributed through selected American Apparel stores, as well as concept bookstores such as Collete (Paris) and Magma (London).
